Tips for a Great School Year

Like many of you, I'm getting ready to head back to the classroom. In a week, students will be back at school. Where did the summer go??? It seems like it disappeared in the blink of an eye.

It's rough changing back to school life after a summer of freedom. Here are some tips to help you have a great school year.

Sleep
For most, summer is a time of staying up late, and as a result, we pick up some bad sleep habits. This is the time to start creating a new sleep habit by going to bed early. Setting bed time will help with this.

Calendar/Planner system
If it is not on my calendar, then it doesn't happen! It doesn't matter what kind of calendar or planner you decide to use, just stick with it. Writing down test dates, project due dates, etc. will help you stay on task and get things turned in on time.

Eat Right
We all pick up bad eating habits from time to time that we have to break. School and extra-curricular activities are going to take up a lot of your time. Eating a balanced meal at breakfast, lunch, and supper will help give you the energy to keep up with all the things you are doing.

Have Adequate Supplies
You have to go to school prepared with supplies like pens and paper. Grab a book to keep with you too.

I hope everyone has a great school year.

Elizabeth moved closer to Raven. "You're not safe here. They know you're here. You need to leave. This school. This town," she whispered.

Random Thoughts: School Supplies

It's scary for some.
While for others, it's a huge reprieve after a long summer because they know they only have to make it a few more days.
At this time of the year, whole aisles in the stores are dedicated to these.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES!

Which means the new school year is just around the corner!

(Cue moans from the kids, and hurrahs from the parents. LOL)

I was in our local Walmart last night and they already had shelves in their seasonal section covered with school supplies. It was strange walking by them without stopping, but that's what I did.

It's been years since I've bought school supplies for the child, and this year, I don't need to buy anything for my desk. When I was cleaning out my home office, I found that I had everything I needed to start the school year, with the exception of a new calendar/planner which I've already picked up. I had dates for the new school year that I had to put into it.

We still have a few weeks left before the first school bell rings.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Story Spotlight: Guardian of Atlantis

Excerpt:

She inspected the box several times, hoping to find any clue to opening it that she might have missed. Raven kept coming back to the inlaid design. She traced the circle with her fingertip. A wave of energy rolled off the box. Raven almost dropped it out of fright. She traced the design again. Another powerful wave rolled off the box and surrounded Raven.

She did it again and was rewarded with a stronger energy wave. Raven touched the symbols in the center, wondering what they meant.

Poseidon.

Zeus.

Hades.

The names popped into her brain.

Raven frowned.

Cover Reveal: Revolution by Jessica Frances

Revolution
by Jessica Frances

Publication date:
January 26th 2016

Genres: New Adult, Dystopia

Synopsis

I was raised in a world where humans no longer rule.

In the past, we made a terrible mistake by creating a new species we thought would serve us as our army, which led to our downfall.

There was a war, we lost, and many lives were massacred. It was the end of life as we knew it and the beginning of a hell we were now trapped in. We became enslaved to what we now called Superiors, becoming pets to them, simply there to entertain.

In a world so miserable, I managed to do the unthinkable: I fell in love. But even that was doomed, because to love a Superior was forbidden.

What the rest of the Superiors didn’t know was how deeply a human could love or how resilient we became when we were hurt.

The Superiors never could have imagined an uprising, which was why they never saw it coming.

Humans deserved to be free, and I would stop at nothing to deliver that promise.

My name is Tilly, and I am still alive with one sole purpose: to begin a revolution.

~

I had been raised to believe humans were worthless. We owned them and controlled them, and when we were done with them, we threw them away. Therefore, I never thought I would ever feel more for

Tilly than disinterest. I never expected to want to save her.

It was forbidden for a Superior to love a human. No one had ever crossed that line, but I did. I fell madly in love with her, so it was no surprise how we ended up.

I was raised to be a soldier, and that was what I was always going to be. However, I was not a soldier for the Superiors, not anymore.

I became a soldier for humans, and I would stop at nothing to help them. They deserved to be free, and I would die protecting them.

My name is Johnny, and I am here with one sole purpose: to finish a revolution.
